#CPD | Women’s empowerment and sex education stand out on CPD

On the afternoon of the second day, a discussion began on a new topic of the informal agenda at Commission on Population and Development (CPD). Suggestions about the family planning based the committee’s discussion during the session. Female empowerment and sex education were highlighted and gained attention throughout the afternoon.
Germany’s delegation made suggestions on important topics to be considered. Among them were highlighted: Maternal health and Child’s health, Women’s rights and Children’s rights, access to contraceptive methods and information on Family planning on diverse family structures. Knowing the importance of these issues for present times and planning for a global future, the delegates added other topics to detail the discussions and to plan a effective solution for all topics.
Some topics, such as gender equality and sex education, were added by the committee. The complement by the Cuban delegation was also very important during the session, as it was about female empowerment and, according to Cuba, it would also be an important topic to be discussed. The position paper and formal suggestions of the delegates began to be written and shall be voted in the next sessions
