Joy as a Form of Resistance
"Can we, as IR scholars, see the moments and events in which the international relations about which we theorize are about fun and being alive?" (Penttinen, 2013).
When we think of wars and conflicts, we often focus only on pain and suffering, when, at those same moments, there is also compassion, resilience, cleverness and moments of fraternity (Penttinen, 2013). Challenging the power dynamics becomes possible when we fight against its results, such as loneliness, misery and hopelessness. When we bring unity, joy and friendship, we begin to combat these patterns and give the necessary attention to well-being and mental health. Bringing positive psychology to our core means studying and understanding how societies and individuals thrive, and how we can enhance people's happiness and well-being. This can be done through goal-oriented studies, instead of problem-oriented ones.
Social Sciences and International Relations generally assume that a person called "somebody else" will fix the world's problems (Penttinen, 2013), they expect someone to be the protagonist of this paradigm shift.
What if we are the ones the world is waiting for?

Brasília
Besides being beautiful, Brasilia is a planned city, which allows a different experience for visitors. Our venue this year is in the Pilot Plan, more specifically in the South W3, our choice to provide more tranquility and comfort in the comings and goings of the event.
EVENT
OF
EXCELLENCE
AMUN is well known for having a team that does go to great lengths to make the delegates have fun and take advantage of the model and Brasília to the fullest.
ACADEMIC
QUALITY
The project is marked by its academic rigor, evidenced by the fact that, for each edition since 2004, an English-language ISBN book is published annually by AMUN. In that book, academic articles are collected on the topics of each of the simulated committees.
