The first step to participating in the 13th AMUN is to choose a head delegate, the person who will be in charge of registration and who will represent the whole delegation before AMUN. Delegations must necessarily range from 1 (one) to 6 (six) delegates. If you want to take part at the International Court of Justice, look for further information below.

By the time the registration process starts, a form will be made available at AMUN’s website. It is the duty of the head delegate to properly fill out the personal data form on behalf of his/her delegation.

Therefore, he/she must insert all the data required, such as name, e-mail, address, phone number, institution, and number of delegates in the delegation. No changes will be allowed concerning the login, the password, and the number of delegates in the delegation.

After filling out the form, the head delegate is supposed to pick up 10 (ten) options of countries (or combination of countries) the delegation would like to represent. The countries’ list providing the number of representatives of each country can be accessed by the link in the end of this text.

It is also important to highlight that the number of representatives of the country (or combination of countries) selected in the form must equal the number of delegates in the delegation. Therefore the head delegate must choose a country (or combination of countries) whose number of representatives (provided by the country list) equals the number of delegates in his/her delegation.

Once the form is submitted, head delegates will be sent a confirmation e-mail with all the data registered in AMUN’s database. Afterwards, the staff will contact each head delegate in order to notify him/her of the country assigned to his/her delegation and of the payment proceedings.

Changes on country assignments may possibly take place pending on delegations giving-up in any phase of the process or on difficulties to designate all delegations to available countries. For this reason, delegations not allotted in the first round of country assignments will be kept registered in an official waiting list.

AMUN fees are non-refundable. That being said, delegates must not do bank deposit until the AMUN staff informs the head delegate of the payment process.

Due to special purposes, this year AMUN will offer combined delegations, consisting of predefined countries whose application will be made together. They are (1) the European Union plus Sweden; (2) Tuvalu plus Maldives plus Grenada (the ‘Small Islands’); (3) the Unión Bolivariana; (4) Djibouti plus Lesotho plus Uganda; (5) Algeria plus Egypt plus Morocco. Each of these combined delegations either congregates a particular claim (the Small Islands and the Unión Bolivariana) or holds one bloc leader at COP 15. They are placed together to enhance these particular claims at the committees and underline the functions of a bloc leader at COP 15.

Finally, it is necessary to clear up that delegations wishing to compete to best delegation awards must (i) consist of 3 or over (3-6) representatives; and (ii) attend 3 or over (3-5) different committees.

International Court of Justice (ICJ)

Those interested in participating in the International Court of Justice will have, this year, two subscription options. Both of them are covered by the ICJ form option.

The first option will be to represent a judge of the court, and this subscription will be performed individually.

The second option is to represent one of the law firms representing the contesting states – Ecuador and Colombia. Those interested in this option must register a group of three persons, which will work together on oral presentations and also drafting documents, such as memorandums, stipulations and evidence packets.

As will be explained more thoroughly later, defenders and prosecutors will be asked to explain their arguments orally before the Court during the conference, debating among themselves on factual and legal issues pertinent to the case, presenting evidences to judges and being able to object the reliability, authenticity, exactness, and importance of the evidences presented by the opposing party.

This is an extremely dynamic and challenging option, which will require great skill and great preparation of those who choose to represent such law firms.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
