Since its inception, the AMUN has given awards to those delegates and delegations which are endowed with unique diplomatic skills and which have shown outstanding performances. The criteria upon which delegates’ performances will be assessed are developed to award a compound of skills, such as the ability to successfully guarantee his/her country's interests, and achievements, such as demonstration of familiarity with his/her country's foreign policy, participation in the labors of the committee, proper use of the rules of procedure, observance of diplomatic conduct, and effective use of speeches. Awards in the 13th edition of the AMUN will be granted in accordance with the following criteria:
1. Types of Awards: 1.1. Individual Awards: Diplomacy Award: a maximum of 10% of delegates* per committee may receive honorable mentions; * When the committee is attended by double-delegations, the awards shall be issued to the delegation. 1.2. Delegation Awards: Best Delegation: only one delegation shall receive this award; Honorable Mention: a maximum of 2 delegations might receive such award.
2. Obligatory Skills or Achievements: (if neglected, these points may block individuals/delegations from being awarded): 2.1. Individual Awards: 100% conference attendance + diplomatic decorum; 2.2. Delegation Awards: representation in all the committees subscribed;
3. Expected skills or achievements (points that advance the chances of receiving an award): 3.1. Individual prize: 3.1.1. Foreign Policy: Position Paper: Delivered correct and before the deadline established by 13th AMUN staff; Necessary points addressed; Reliability of the information; Public Speeches: Reliable use of information; Awareness of national interests; 3.1.2. Diplomatic Skills: Public Speeches: Rhetoric and timing; Capacity to influence the flow and the outcome of the discussion;
3.2. Delegations Awards: Delegations’ performances (M) will be objectively rated according to an average mark accounting for the aggregate individual awards plus a cultural night special award, the best stand accolade. The rating will follow the equation below: M = number of individual awards (+best stand accolade1) Number of delegation members 3.2.1. The Best Stand Accolade: During the cultural night, delegates and AMUN staff will vote for the best delegations’ stands. The most voted stand will be awarded with a special prize which will also be taken in consideration during the rating for delegations awards.
1Rumor has it that a good performance at the ASCUP, both from the selection and the cheerleaders will also be considered on the equation. When confronted with the subject, 13th AMUN Secretariat abstains. |
