For many years, college students and faculty members have been coming to the AMUN to take part in a realistic and enjoyable simulation of diplomatic fora. While we realize that the AMUN is an academic as well as a social forum, we must enforce certain security measures so that a professional atmosphere can be maintained at all times. Thus, we kindly ask you participants cooperation in maintaining order, both in and out committees sessions, so that we can achieve the most well-run, educational, enjoyable and fruitful conference possible. Respectful and orderly behavior is imperative. The AMUN Staff will work throughout the conference to enforce these rules and secure a pleasant environment and useful infrastructure to all participants.
Dress Code Delegates must follow a dress code during committee sessions and solemn ceremonies. Proper attire is important if you are to simulate the atmosphere of a diplomatic negotiation. For that reason we request formal or business attire. If a staff member believes a delegate is inappropriately dressed, the delegate will be asked to change clothes attending the upcoming committee session. Men must wear suit and tie and women are requested to maintain skirts at proper length. Regional formal attires from the country delegates represent are allowed and welcomed. The dress code also observes the appropriateness of particular social norms of different peoples on clothing, such as religious law, tradition, and time in history. We are confident that your cooperation will surely impede any such wrongdoings from happening. Badges must be worn at all times and are required for admission to conference functions. Due to security requirements, individuals found without a badge will not be permitted in any AMUN activity.
Alcohol, Smoking and Drugs Policy Only over-18 delegates may consume alcohol in Brazil. Containers of alcohol may not be carried in public areas, including conference rooms and hallways. Nevertheless, delegations may bring alcoholic drink to the Cultural Party – to be held on the 3rd day of the event, traditionally at an embassy. The Federal District prohibits smoking in any closed public spaces. Delegates will not be permitted to smoke in committee rooms nor hallways. Ensure that you find an open-air area and respect non-smokers. Delegates found possessing or using illicit drugs will be required to leave immediately and may be held criminally liable.
Miscellaneous Fees Replacement badges or placards may be purchased at the for a fee of R$ 5,00. Additional copies or misplaced study guides or conference handbooks may be purchased at the conference for a fee of R$ 20,00 and R$ 5,00, respectively. The optional activities, i.e. the evening social events from the 3rd, 4th and 5th days, will be charged separately. Note: For foreign delegates, we recommend checking the exchange rate of the day for converting other currencies into Brazilian Reais. |
