1- Forming a Delegation.

- A delegation is a group of university-level students that will represent a country during the conference.

- Each delegation may be accompanied by a faculty advisor. He/she will guide delegates’ research and supervise them during the conference. Faculty advisors are supposed to be professors from the delegation’s university. Special cases must be submitted to AMUN Staff.
Note: One faculty advisor per delegation is free of subscription fees. Others will be charged as delegates.

- One delegate shall be chosen by his/her colleagues to be the head delegate.
• Head-delegate: he/she is the delegate in charge of his/her delegation, being responsible for all information exchange between the delegation and AMUN Staff. He/She is also responsible for executing the payment of the fees.
• If you are a one-member delegation, you are your own head delegate

1.1- Composition of a delegation

- Each country may have only one (01) delegate per committee, except for the Security Council (UNSC) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). In the UNSC, up to two (02) delegates are allowed. In the WTO all delegations must be represented by two (02) delegates.

Delegates shall represent his/her country only in one committee during all the conference.

- In case the main country chosen has fewer representations than the number of delegates of your delegation, you may complement it by electing an extra-country. A delegation may have only two (02) extra-countries, besides the ICJ and World Bank applicants. Special cases shall be submitted to AMUN Staff.

- A delegation can have from 1 to 12 delegates, according to the committees in which the country has representations (check the Country List for specific information on this topic).

A full delegation will have the following composition:

Main Country
5 to 10 delegates
+ Applicant for the ICJ
1 delegate
+ Applicant for the World Bank
1 delegate
=
12 delegates

1.2- European Communities in WTO

- The European Communities will be a special case in AMUN’s WTO. The European Union is known for legal reasons as the European Communities in WTO matters, and the latter speaks for all EU member States at almost all WTO meetings. In AMUN, this delegation will comprise 4 (four) ministers. Two of them will come from the delegation of France and the other two, from the one of the United Kingdom. This means that the delegates of France and of the United Kingdom will be part of the same delegation, that is, they will be representing the European Communities. It is important to notice that this entails serious work of coordination among the four delegates.

1.3- Committees under application

- Due to their substantive and procedural particularities, ICJ and World Bank demand a special registration procedure. The delegates who wish to be part in one of these committees shall have to fill in Application Form for the ICJ and the Application Form for the World Bank, and answer the proposed questions for the preferred committee.

- The Application Form for the ICJ and World Bank shall be sent directly to the respective committee directors, through the e-mails icj@amun.com.br and worldbank@amun.com.br, until the first deadline (April 30, 2004). Applications sent after the first deadline will be disconsidered.

- After the first deadline, the committee directors will evaluate the submitted applications and decide if the applicant is eligible or not for the committee in question.

- The results will be informed with the first country-assignment.

- If the applicant is rejected, the applicant may still participate in AMUN if he/she so chooses. By filling the field “Backup Committee Option”, AMUN Staff shall assign a country for the applicant to represent in the elected committee.

- The same person may apply to the two committees under application if he/she desires. To do so, the two committees have to be stated in the fields “First Committee Option” and “Backup Committee Option”, in order of preference, and all the proposed questions shall have to be answered.

- To obtain specific information about the committees under application, please refer to their links at this site, or to the committees’ e-mails.

1.4- Representing NGOs

3- Country Assignment

After receiving the Application Form A, AMUN Staff will proceed to the country assignment, when countries will be assigned to each delegation.

The country assignment is done on “first-come-first-serve” basis, with priority given to national origin. In this way, we strongly encourage applications to be sent even earlier in order to guarantee the preferences.

Our Country List contains only a few countries in order to facilitate the country assignment and to assure all committees will have a balanced distribution of countries. If you wish to represent your own country, but it is not in the list, please contact us for availability.

4- Filling in the Application Form B

- By the time your delegation receives the country assigned, head delegates will also receive the Application Form B, which shall be fully and correctly filled with the delegates’ data, and sent until May 21 (first deadline) or June 25 (second deadline)

It shall be sent by fax (+55 61 468-2387) or by e-mail (recruitment@amun.com.br). (to be released)

- At the time you send the Application Form B, you should also send the voucher of payment of the Delegate Fees correctly paid.

- Please, check the information regarding the Fees available bellow.
