Dear Delegates,
On
behalf of our staff, we invite you all to the 7th Americas
Model United Nations (AMUN). 7th AMUN will be held in Brasilia
from July 18 to 22. Nearly 400 college students meet annually
for exciting days of debates and negotiation in ten different
committees. The 2004 event’s theme, “Building
Bridges Across Nations”, intents to reflect the aim
of international negotiations, that is coping with differences
and conflicting interests towards cooperation and understanding.
That is the spirit that we expect to find during the conference’s
days.
AMUN
is the oldest MUN Conference in Brazil and AMUN 2004 continues
our tradition of excellence, experience and innovation. As
you may already know, along with the traditional committees,
ECOFIN, SPECPOL, UNCHR, UNSC, 7th AMUN will count with the
World Bank (WB) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). You
must be aware that these committees will have some particularities
that you need to check before you decide to attend them.
Moreover,
AMUN 2004 will host a Special Conference on UN Reform, bringing
to discussion one of the most important themes on the UN agenda
nowadays, its own status within the international community.
Due to the successful experience at this year event, the International
Court of Justice (ICJ) will bring new cases into judgment,
specially designed for those interested in international law.
And back to 1926, a Special Session of the Assembly of the
League of Nations, will discuss international security and
the framework of the organization.
Finally,
the Organization of American States (OAS) comes back in a
brand-new format. In 2004, this organization will have Spanish
as its working language. Yes, Spanish! If you have fluency
in Spanish and appreciate regional themes, check-out the OAS
topics.
Enclosed
are the registration information for 7th AMUN, along with
the Country List and application for special committees. Please
note that this year we will again have two application deadlines:
a priority one of 30th April 2004 and a final deadline of
14th June 2004.
Once
again, you are all invited to our conference. Please feel
free to contact us though our e-mail amun@amun.com.br or using
